Small Business ServiceThe Small Business Service (SBS) is the Department of Trade and Industry agency tasked with improving the performance of the country's 3.7m+ small firms. Much of its work is channeled through the Business Link network.
In 2005 CPL won a SBS tender to turn a series of DTI "best practice" employment booklets into a new Business Link booklet aimed exclusively at small firms. This involved rewriting some sections of the combined text, and writing fresh sections to shift the emphasis of the booklet away from business in general and focus it instead on the mind-set of the SME owner/manager. We also created a new design for the booklet. Following the successful conclusion of this project, SBS asked CPL to perform a similar exercise with a fresh set of DTI guides, and we continue to work with SBS on the refreshment and redesign of a range of different publications.
