Copy
Good writing lies at the heart of every good publication, whether it's an online
magazine or the old-fashioned paper-and-ink variety. It doesn't matter how
much you spend on top-class photography or cutting-edge design - if the words
aren't interesting and relevant, nobody will read them. This applies
whether you're looking at a magazine, a web page, a book, a CD, or just a
simple flyer or brochure. So sourcing good copy should be your first concern.
We can get you good copy, either by:
- Researching and writing it ourselves;
- Commissioning professional writers; or
- Commissioning copy from relevant or expert organisations.
Editing
Rare indeed is the copy that cannot be improved by good editing. An editor
isn't looking just for mistakes of spelling and grammar, he or she is seeking
to make the copy as clear and interesting as possible, and that means knowing
the readership and making the copy work well for them. You can take
a single piece of raw copy and turn it into two articles, one for the Financial
Times and the second for the Sun. The secret is in all in the
editing. At CPL, we can take copy generated by your organisation and make
it shine.
And once you've got good copy that's been well edited, it's time
to think about design.
